Welcome to the webpage of EUSA!
European strategic autonomy in a shifting multi-polar world (EUSA) is the Jean Monnet Chair awarded by the European Commission to prof. Merijn Chamon of the Brussels Centre for Law and Government (BruCeL). The project addresses the need to improve citizens’ understanding of the legal and institutional framework that determines the Union’s capacity to act internationally. In a context marked by geopolitical instability and debates on European strategic autonomy, improving the understanding of how EU external relations are legally structured, how they function in practice, and what their inherent limitations and flexibilities are is a priority.
EUSA responds to this need through an integrated programme of education, outreach, and research centred on EU external relations law. It combines curricular innovation with public engagement and academic–practitioner dialogue.
Its overall research question is how the political objective of EU strategic autonomy shapes the substance and form of EU external action, EUSA will contribute to more informed public debate, more grounded academic research, and enhanced legal practice.
This webpage will bring together news and announcements on the activities organised within the framework of EUSA.
