Every year, the Belgian Society of International Law awards a prize to promote the study of public international law. Last weekend, the jury decided to award this year’s prize to BruCeL member Victor Van Steendam for his Master’s thesis, written last year under the supervision of Professor Stefaan Smis, entitled “From Urgency to Action: Regional Safeguards for Indigenous Peoples – A Comparative Analysis of Provisional Measures for Indigenous Peoples across the African Union and the Organization of American States.” This year’s jury was comprised of Professors Gamze Erdem Türkelli, Stéphanie Francq and the Society's president Nicolas Angelet.
