This year’s colloquium of the Swiss Society for Military Law and Law of War (SSMLLW) will center around the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the four Geneva Conventions and reflect on current challenges and opportunities, trends and possible future developments for the interpretation and implementation of the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC). The colloquium is a public event.
Dr. Chris de Cock (Professor at the Law Faculty of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Universiteit Gent, former Senior Military Legal Advisor to the EU’s Military-Strategic Headquarter (MPCC)) will participate in one of the panels together with Dr. Aurel Sari, (Professor of Public International Law at the University of Exeter), Prof. Gloria Gaggioli, (Professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Geneva Col (GS)) and an ICRC representative.
The topic of this panel is the principle of proportionality.
