On 13 May 2025, the PUBR department had the pleasure of hosting the General Assembly of the Belgian Network of Junior Researchers in International Law. This dynamic network connects pre- and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with Belgian universities who are working on diverse topics in the field of international law.
The afternoon began with a guided tour of our green campus. The visiting researchers were then warmly welcomed by our researchers of the PUBR department and Prof. Stefaan Smis. We continued with a presentation symposium, where four researchers shared interesting insights from their PhD work: Marta Paricio Montesinos (Brussels School of Governance), Dita Toska (VUB), Pierre Walckiers (UCL) and Shilpi Pandey (VUB). Their presentations were followed by constructive feedback and discussion led by Prof. Smis and other members of the network, fostering a rich academic exchange.
Following the symposium, the General Assembly was held and the day concluded on a convivial note with a pizza picnic on the beautiful VUB esplanade, a perfect setting for informal networking and conversation!
