The ERC-funded project Curiae Virides in cooperation with the Department of Public Law of the VUB organised a special screening of The Tribunal, a powerful film that sheds light on the role of courts and law in addressing environmental disputes. This compelling documentary created in cooperation with the Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment, explores the intersections of human rights, environmental justice, and legal accountability. The film tracks the experiences of community members in the Intag Valley in Ecuador who were directly impacted by a potential mining project, a dispute that erupted as a result of the project, and the eventual arbitration proceedings in which the Canadian mining company sued the Ecuadorian government under the Canada-Ecuador bilateral investment treaty.
